ARISS-Kontakt ist geplant mit Schülern der Valley Stream South High School, Valley Stream, New York, USA Amateurfunk auf der Internationalen Raumstation (ARISS) hat die Bestätigung für einen ARISS-Funkkontakt zwischen einem Astronauten an Bord der Internationalen Raumstation (ISS) und Schülern der Valley Stream South High School in Valley Stream, NY, erhalten. ARISS führt jedes Jahr 60-80 dieser speziellen Amateurfunkkontakte zwischen Schülern aus aller Welt und Besatzungsmitgliedern mit Amateurfunklizenzen an Bord der ISS durch. Die Valley Stream South High School ist eine öffentliche Mittel- und Oberschule in einem Vorort, die von etwa 1 260 Schülern der Klassen 7 bis 12 besucht wird. Die Schüler folgen einem ARISS-Lehrplan für Geowissenschaften, der unter anderem folgende Themen behandelt: Astronomie und Satelliten, Physik von Raketenstarts und Bahnmechanik sowie die Verwendung von Amateurfunk auf der ISS. Mitglieder des Long Island Mobile Amateur Radio Club (LIMARC) und des Falcon Report Clubs der Valley Stream South High School werden bei der Vorbereitung der Telebrücke und dem ARISS-Kontakt helfen. Dabei handelt es sich um einen Telebridge-Kontakt über Amateurfunk, bei dem die Schüler ihre Fragen an den Astronauten Andreas Mogensen, Amateurfunkrufzeichen KG5GCZ, stellen können. Die Downlink-Frequenz für diesen Kontakt ist 145,800 MHz und kann von Zuhörern innerhalb des ISS-Footprints, der auch die Telebrückenstation umfasst, gehört werden. Die ARISS-Amateurfunkbodenstation (Telebrückenstation) für diesen Kontakt befindet sich in Casale Monferrato, Italien. Das freiwillige Amateurfunk-Team an der Station wird das Rufzeichen IK1SLD verwenden, um die Verbindung zur ISS herzustellen und aufrechtzuerhalten. Der ARISS-Funkkontakt ist für den 17. Oktober 2023 um 8:25 Uhr EDT (NY) geplant (12:25:03 UTC, 7:25 Uhr CDT, 6:25 Uhr MDT, 5:25 Uhr PDT).  ARISS contact is planned with students of Valley Stream South High School, Valley Stream, New York, USA Amateur radio on the International Space Station (ARISS) has received confirmation of an ARISS radio contact between an astronaut on board the International Space Station (ISS) and eldictions of Valley Stream South High School in Valley Stream Stream, NY. ARISS conducts 60-80 of these special amateur radio contacts between students from all over the world and crew members with amateur radio licenses on board the ISS every year. The Valley Stream South High School is a public middle-class and high school in a suburb that is attended by about 1,600 grades 7 to 12. Students follow an ARISS curriculum for geosciences, which covers the following topics, among others: astronomy and satellites, physics of rocket launches and railway mechanics, and the use of amateur radio on the ISS. Members of the Long Island Mobile Amateur Radio Club (LIMARC) and the Falcon Report Club of Valley Stream South High School will help prepare the Telebrücke and ARISS contact. This is a telebridge contact via amateur radio, in which the students can ask their questions to the astronaut Andreas Mogensen, amateur radio bad KG5GCZ. The downlink frequency for this contact is 145,800 MHz and can be heard by listeners within the ISS Footprint, which also includes the tele-bridge bridge station. The ARISS amateur radio station (Telebrücken station) for this contact is located in Casale Monferrato, Italy. The volunteer amateur radio team at the station will use the call sign IK1SLD to establish and maintain the connection to the ISS. The ARISS radio contact is for the 17th October 2023 at 8:25 EDT (NY) planned (12:25:03 UTC, 7:25 PM CDT, 6:25 AM MDT, 5:25 p.m. PDT). dx world : 3Y0J – Bouvet Island (part II)

3Y0J Team Co-Leader Ken LA7GIA says:
“During the weekend the 3Y0J team have adjusted our plans. We are currently preparing this Sunday morning to land essential supplies to survive on the island, and build the camp to manage the upcoming storm predicted for Thursday. In addition, we will attempt to land radio equipment in a difficult operation during the most favorable time slots. This landing depends on the conditions at Bouvet which have proven to be very difficult. The setup is a small scale setup that, if we succeed, will possibly be extended. More info later.” more...

The Bouvet Island DXpedition

Bouvetøya or Bouvet is a Norwegian volcanic island in the Southern Ocean. It is one of the most isolated islands in the world and 89 percent of the island is covered by glaciers. The island has status as a nature reserve and setting up a camp requires a permission. Its location is at 54°25′S, 3°20′A, 2500 kilometres southwest of South Africa, 1600 kilometres from Gough Island and 1700 kilometres north of the coast of Dronning Maud Land. The island is not part of Antarctica, which is defined as the area south of 60 °S. The island measures only 49 square kilometres, and is almost entirely covered by ice. Steep cliffs on all sides of the island make it extremely difficult to go ashore there. Olavtoppen, 780 metres above sea level, is the highest peak on the island. more...

WiMo: Die 3YØJ Bouvet Island DXpedition 2023

The 3Y0J Team is very busy working in very extreme and difficult conditions to transfer all the equipment and supplies from Marama to Bouvet Island. The materials must then be carried or hoisted up to their campsite at a higher elevation. The Starlink internet terminal has been disconnected. Internet communications with team members will not be possible again until the camp is established and Starlink set up. Team Co-Leader Ken LA7GIA has asked that we be patient while they work. The satellite radios are being used to coordinate activities between the camp and the boat and must be kept open for that purpose. Thank you for your understanding. more...
